Important Information for Owners of Vehicles with Removable Doors

New Law Goes Into Affect September 3, 2024

Pennsylvania Senate Bill 298 was officially introduced in 2023, and is titled as "An Act amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in equipment standards, further providing for unlawful activites; in other required equipment, further providing for restraint systems; and abrogating regulations", and was passed by the State Senate on July 3, 2024, and will go into affect on September 3, 2024.

What Does it Mean?

If a vehicle is equipped wiht manufacturer-designed and manufacturer-installed removable doors, the vehicle may be operated on the roadways with those doors removed, or equipped with non-original manufacturer doors. This law further states that when doors are removed, the vehicle should have side mirrors, either installed by the manufacturer, or attached by the vehicle owner.
