Foundations – an Introduction to the Technician Adding Programming Skills to the Toolbox

This class is an introduction for the technician with limited to no programming experience. The class will lay down a foundational knowledge base covering a wide variety of topics that affect the outcomes of programming. Programming and coding will be defined and discussed. Learned values will also be reviewed. Programming process and steps will be discussed and explained. A discussion of the importance of laptop hardware, setup, software as well as where to purchase will be outlined. Discusson of the importance of programming power supplies is also integrated into the course. Different methods of programming will be discussed and reviewed including differentiation between J2534 and OEM, review of cloning and its role in today's shops, as well as explanation of cloud-based programming. The instructor will lay down the foundation for a technician that will minimize or eliminate common sources of error and failures in module programming and equip the attendees with a wealth of knowledge that is both practical and essential.
